IS FACE SOAP BAD?

1 min read

Yes.  When its not a SBTRCT Foaming Cleanser

Because, although we admit they look pretty similar, SBTRCT Foaming Cleanser is NOT A SOAP.

Touchy?  Yes for good reason.

We get worried when people confuse the two, because Soap is not very good for the skin.

That tight, squeaky feeling after using Soap is your skin?  That’s your skin shouting NO!

Let us explain.

Soap might clean the skin, but in the process also disrupts the PH of the skin.

What is PH?

PH is a scale of 1 - 14 of how acidy (1) or alkaline (14) something is.

The ideal range for skincare is between 4-6.

Soap is much higher on the scale (>9).

Soap is made by mixing an alkali, (typically sodium hydroxide), with oil or fat in a process known as saponification.

It is this process that gives soap its high alkaline pH that causes the skin to feel dry.

SBTRCT products never contain soap (did we mention that?) and so have a more balanced and skin-friendly pH.

Our Foaming Cleanser is our best-seller with customer reviews often referencing its creamy and moisturising texture - that ‘doesn’t dry the skin’.

So please ditch the soap.

Your skin will thank you for it.
