What is the difference between a solid balm and a cream or lotion?
To break this down into simple terms, a lotion is the thinnest or least viscous, with the highest water content, followed by cream and then ointment and balms which have the lowest / zero water content and highest viscosity.
In general solid moisturizing balms, creams and ointments may be more suitable for people with a drier skin type and lotions or gels may be more suitable for people with greasier skin - although SBTRCT products are dermatologically approved for all skin types.
Overall, in order to have healthy and glowy skin, it is vital to ensure the skin remains well hydrated with a good balance of water in it - SBTRCT solid skincare moisturising products contain a combination of occlusives (waxes) and emollients (oils, butters, lipids) which work together to keep moisture locked in the skin.
