Not only are our products multi-award winning, we're over the moon to announce that SBTRCT is now a Certified B Corp too.

Not sure what a B Corp is? Let us explain…
B Corps are companies that are verified by B Lab (the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement), as having met the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

Put simply, businesses that are a force for good & create positive impact.

Why was being a B Corp important to us?
We recognised when we founded SBTRCT that our most challenging global problems cannot be solved by governments and not-for-profits alone.

The sad truth is that the beauty industry, although created to cleanse and care, is making our planet a dirty place. We want to help clean things up and B Corp Certification creates standards, policies, tools, and guidance to help us do just that.

By becoming a B Corp we are committed to positively impact all our stakeholders – workers, communities, customers, and our planet.

The process*
To gain B Corp Certification we were rigorously assessed on performance, accountability, and transparency covering topics from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials.

In order to achieve certification, a we had to: 

1. Demonstrate high social and environmental performance by achieving a B Impact Assessment score of 80 or above and passing a risk review.

2. Make a legal commitment by changing our corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders.


3. Exhibit transparency by allowing information about our performance measured against B Lab’s standards to be publicly available.

How did we do?
Our overall impact score was 90.7 (the median score for ordinary businesses who complete the assessment is currently 50.9 and you need to score a minimum of 80 to receive B Corp status).

We scored most highly (35.2) in “Community’ - This recognizes business models that are designed to address specific community-oriented problems. SBTRCT was founded to help address three problems; plastic pollution, water scarcity and over-reliance on palm oil production - which is reflected in this score.

Our score in Environment was 30.7 - This recognizes companies with environmentally innovative production processes and those that sell products or services that have a positive environmental impact. Our solid skincare formulations prevent millions of pieces of plastic from entering our world but still deliver on skincare benefits you can see and feel.

Where can we do better?
B Corp status doesn’t stop after one score, B Corp is a commitment to continuous improvement. We can always do better and we will. We are relentless in our pursuit to run our businesses consciously & inclusively and reduce the negative impact of the beauty industry on our planet.
